J.O MALLANDER
From April 27 to May 9, 1973, Galerie S:t Petri in Lund will showcase conceptual art in the form of paper sculptures by the Stockholm and Helsinki-based artist and art critic J. O. Mallander.
As an art critic, he has worked for several newspapers and magazines, including since 1968 for Hufvudstadsbladet in Helsinki, from 1971-72 for Dagens Nyheter, and from 1968-71 for the Finnish art magazine Iris. Additionally, he has contributed to various cultural journals such as Paletten, Taide, and Horisont. He has also produced radio and TV programs about art, including one on Claes Oldenburg for Finnish television.
Mallander is active in several different fields; his poetry has been published in Ultra, Parnasse, International Organ, DN, and Lyrikvännen, and he has been involved in experimental music recordings since 1968.
The Lund exhibition is his first in southern Sweden. J. O. Mallander will be present at the opening on Friday, April 27, from 5 PM to 8 PM. On Saturday at 6 PM, he will give an interesting lecture in the gallery titled "Aesthetics, Ecology, Energy - The New Functions of Art," which addresses the philosophical issues of contemporary art.
